Inter Faith Week in Merseyside

The week begins with a fantastic Bike ride called, 'Circle of Faiths' at Sefton Park on Sunday 15 November at 12 til 3pm. This is a guided cycle round the park that incorporates visiting places of worship near the park. Meet by the Aviary Café at 12. Also on Sunday 15 November an Interfaith service is taking place from 12.30 - 2.30pm at the Sikh Gurdwara on Wellington Avenue, Liverpool this is being put on jointly by the Sikh and Bahai Communities and is open to people of other Faiths or no Faith. There will be an opporunity to go to Sefton park tennis courts until 3pm to take part in the Try Out Bike Roadshow for adults and children to have ago on some bikes.


On Monday 16 November, HMP Altcourse are holding an event called, 'Inside Faith', this is an opportunity to go and look at how faith is offered in prison. The event will include seeing part the prison, talk to the Chaplaincy Team and meet prisoners from various faith backgrounds. It will take place from 1-3pm. On Thursday 19 November, Liverpool Community Spirit age organising a youth council open meeting as an opportunity for R.E teachers to bring along students to hear about the youth council and get involved with some activities. On Friday 20 November, the Liverpool Faith Network steering group are organising a tour of local Faith groups for staff from statutory bodies to raise the profile of the work of Faith groups in Liverpool. John Devine from the North West Forum of Faiths will be speaking at the beginning of the tour. Further information on this contact Liz White


Also on Friday 20 November, from 7-9pm at the International Slavery Museum in conjunction with STOP THE TRAFFIK (who have an exhibition called 'Trafficked' at the museum) are holding an event to raise awareness of the modern day slavery that is Human Trafficking.

There will be a Question & Answer time towards the end of the evening and also people will be able to network to see how together we can help stop trafficking in our region and beyond.

Although this isn't an official inter faith event, I thought it is an event of great importance and people of all Faiths, or no Faith should be concerned with the issue of human traffiking.

On Saturday 21st November the Council of Christians and Jews are holding an Interfaith quiz at The Reformed Synagogue Hall on Church Road, for further information and tickets contact Liz Spencer lizspencer15@aol.com This quiz is open to people of all Faiths or none.
