Future North West: Our Shared Priorities provides a high level statement of strategic priorities and framework for activity over the next 20 years.

This statement builds on a substantial programme of work by private, public and third sector partners from the length and breadth of the North West. This work was originally undertaken to support the development of the North West Regional Strategy (RS2010) but now underpins Future North West.

Future North West is based on a sound and comprehensive evidence base. It has also benefited from a sustainability assessment and an analysis of the North West's environmental limits as well as extensive stakeholder engagement and public consultation.

The North West Development Agency are now inviting feedback and comments over a two-month period. Your views and comments on this document would therefore be extremely helpful. They should be sent by email, by 8th October 2010, to Future.NW@nwda.co.uk. We will then publish a final version, taking account of comments received, following the Comprehensive Spending Review

ENSURING A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD: FUNDING FAITH-BASED ORGANISATIONS TO PROVIDE PUBLICLY FUNDED SERVICES

Faith-based bodies, and religious organisations make a significant contribution to the well-being of society. They are eligible, like any other suitably qualified bodies, to be awarded a tender to deliver publicly funded services, or to be given a grant to carry out a project of benefit to the wider community or to their own members or constituency of supporters.

However, a number of myths surround the funding of faith-based bodies to deliver publicly funded services and can obstruct the fair access of such bodies to public funding and tendering opportunities as part of the third sector.

These notes are a positive attempt to ensure that there is a level playing field. They are addressed primarily to purchasers and funders of services in local government.

Some of these myths, followed by the facts in each case, are set out below. To download the infromation use the link.
